Since the sun is also a star we thought it would be a good idea to include Actinosphaerium eichhorni, a sun animalcule. This wonderful pond creature captures small ciliates and rotifers with its long filament-like 'axopodia'. It can be found in ordinary pond water. This species can be relatively large, sometime a millimetre! This individual was 0.5 millimetre. |
