Lucky Bamboo is often sold as a novelty plant. It is actually a Dracaena sanderiana, a shrub native to tropical West Africa. It is natively found as an understory plant in the area's tropical rainforests. When sold as Lucky Bamboo, short cuttings are propgated into plants placed in water or small rock planters.
