Project 1: Onion Cells
Video showing how to prepare a slide to obtain onion cells.. Click on image to play video.
Preparing the slide.

This video helps you understand how to obtain the skin (membrane) of an onion, stain it, and mount it on a slide ready to view. If you are young, it might be best to get a parent to cut the onion for you.

Project 1 Onion Cells
Video showing results you should see when staining an onion skin. Click on image to play video.

Preparing the slide.

This video helps you understand how to make semi-permanent slides easily and cheaply without using dangerous chemicals.
Shows step-by-step how to make Well Slides using PVA glue.

Project 3- Part 2: Cheek Cells & slide making using Fructose.
Video showing  how to make semi-permanent slides with fructose as a mounting medium and securing your cheek cells and other specimens in the mountant  for viewing later.  Click on image to play video.  Preparing the slide.
Results.

This video helps you understand the kind of results you get using fructose as a mounting medium to keep specimens for a few years. Shows  a form of slide making results including the nettle section mounted 23 years ago.
