Carnivorous Plants: Sundews and Bladderworts
Carnivorous plants are plants that trap and consume animals or protozoan to derive nutrients from their prey. The plants have a tendency to grow in places where the soil is thin or poor in nutrients particularly nitrogen (i.e. acidic bogs and rock outcroppings). There are about 630 carnivorous plant species; the main focus of this article is on the sundew and the bladderwort.
